What’s In My Shower – Hair
A couple weeks ago, I shared my favorite shower products for body. If you would like to see a re-cap of those, click here. Today, I am showing ‘What’s In My Shower – Hair’.
Living Proof Restore Shampoo | Living Proof Restore Conditioner
Pureology Precious Oil Shampoo | Pureology Precious Oil Conditioner
I wash my hair about every three days. I rotate between the Living Proof Restore line and the Pureology Precious Oil Line. I have tried many other shampoo and conditioners, and always continue to go back to these tried and true loves. When you wash your hair as infrequently as I do, you need products that create a nice lather. Both of these do the trick and I cannot recommend them enough. Did I mention, they both smell great?
Every six weeks, I get my hair colored. My colorist prefers me to come in with clean, dry hair. I try to schedule my appointment first thing in the morning so that I can accomate her request, and of course, be treated to some pampering by having someone else style my hair for the day. I have used this Neutrogena anti-residue Shampoo for years. The purpose of this shampoo is to rid your hair of the accumulation of build-up from products that you’ve been using over the past several weeks. I like to think of this as a hair detox. Going in for a color treatment with a clean slate really makes a difference. This ins’t the greatest smelling stuff. It doesn’t smell bad, it just doesn’t give that nice, refreshing shower scent that I think us ladies prefer. I don’t think men can relate to this whole ‘everything has to smell good theory’. But in all honesty, they don’t need to understand everything.
Wella Luxe Oil Keratin Restore Mask
I LOVE this stuff! I apply this hair mask about every two to three weeks, or every 6-8 washes. I’ve mentioned before, I hold the bar pretty high on my expectations of products being performers, and this one certainly is … I love it! Did I mention how great it smells?
Turbie Twist Hair Towel | Conair Hair Comb
A couple other items I want to mention are the Turbie Twist Hair Towel and the Conair comb. I keep and use the comb in my shower. After I work my conditioner or mask into my hair, I like to comb through my strands with this comb. I then proceed to leave my conditioner or mask on while I wash my body and shave to really give my hair that extra conditioning. After I am done showering, I wrap my hair in one of several Turbie Twists that I own. I have used other hair towels and they do not absorb the water like the original Turbie Twist. The claim on the box is true … less blow drying. The less heat styling we do, the better it is for the health of our hair.
L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil | Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit Bath & Shower Gel
I get so many requests for showing how I organize my items, so I thought I would hop in my shower and snap a picture of how I store my products. Sorry for the quality of this image. There are no windows in my shower room and only a very dim can light. Both my husband and I like soft lighting for showering so when we built our house, we requested no lights/no windows in the shower room. Who would have ever thought I would regret that choice, because I’d be taking a camera into my shower. But I agree, it helps to actually see how the set-up is. I store my large refill containers in my linen closet and refill the smaller ones, as needed. I also do not store my Neutrogena shampoo in the shower. That being said, here is another organization tip: when you schedule your next hair color, go into your reminders app on your phone, type in ‘Put Neutrogena in shower’ and have that reminder go off the night prior to your hair appointment. When the reminder goes off, get the shampoo from the linen closet and put it in your shower for the morning. This will ensure that you don’t forget to use it. Ladies, we can not remember everything, so quit trying! Use your reminders app … it’s a lifesaver!!!

Root Concealer: Water Colors I use Dark Brown
I originally published this blog post one year ago, Jan 26, 2016. I decided to go back and review the post to see if anything has changed over the course of the year. Let’s Jump ahead to today, which is February, 2017. I am currently still using all the products and can say I still love everything I shared in this blog post. This past November, while Sephora was having their annual VIB 20% off sale and Ulta was having their annual promotion, I decided to venture out and try a couple new (to me) shampoo & conditioners.
One of the product lines, I had heard about from several ladies on Youtube. These ladies, I respect for their honesty. The shampoo/conditioner combo recommended was part of the Living Proof brand. I already knew that I had achieved great results from the Living Proof ‘Restore’ line. I decided to give the Perfect hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner a try. Of course, I loved it! I cannot say which, between the two that I prefer more. I love them both, and would repurchase either of the two. I think if I were in a position to recommend just one of the two, I would say it’s a matter of reading what the two have to offer, and deciding which one is most suitable for you (persoanlly). I have pretty good hair. For myself, I could go either way
The other Shampoo/ Conditioner product I fell in love with, came by surprise … in a completely different way. The brand is Joico. I have used Joico Shampoo & Conditioner in the past and LOVED it. But although I may LOVE something, it does’t necessarily mean that lack interest in trying other products. That is how ‘beauty junkies’ operate. The particular Joico that I picked up, after asking my stylist is the K-Pak series (Shampoo/Conditioner). Loving everything about this new addition.
