Here we are again, the end of another week. To think it’s May, already. It seems like just yesterday I was doing my New Year’s Blog Post. May and June are special months for me. Of course, we already know Mother’s Day is in May. But this month is my anniversary, as well. My husband and I will be celebrating 24 years. Then, June brings my birthday. My poor husband has a lot of gift-giving to do and being nice to me in a very short period of time.
Ahhh, Mother’s Day. There are very few days out of the year that we, as moms, feel appreciated for all that we do. When you have a big family and a lot of kids, you don’t really expect to be appreciated, even on your special day. Better to go into Mother’s Day with that thought process, than to end up disappointed. Remember my famous quote from this blog post here … ‘Expectation is the root of all heartache’. Although it is a special day and lots of great things will happen, let’s not get carried away…you’re still a mother.
At our house, we are in full swing preparing for the Mother’s Day Brunch that we are hosting on Sunday. We are having quite the gathering. I love tapping into my creative side, and entertaining brings me happiness. For some, it is a dreaded chore. It is definitely not for everyone. A lot goes into hosting a party. I think you either love it or hate it! I love it!!! If you would like to see the initial details that went into the preparation for this gathering, check out my blog post here. I will be adding more pictures hopefully tomorrow or Sunday (no promises) to show the final details. Sometime next week, I will post pictures from the actual party, itself.
I LOVE this dress! Here I am sporting yet another striped dress. You probably recall this H & M ribbed dress, here. Although the one I am wearing today is in a similar color family, this one is more dressy. I love them both. I believe however, they serve two different purposes. The H & M could be worn several different ways, dressed up/dressed down. I think it would look great with flats and a denim jacket, even. It could be worn alone with sandals. It leans more casual. The one I am wearing today clearly is a more dressy look. The fabric, the lining, the more structured fit. I am really loving the Eva Mendes collection for New York & Company. The quality is killer for the price you are paying. I am very impressed with this line.
Today is going to be a beautiful day, with an expected 72 degrees. My husband took the day off from work, and has already shot out the door to play a round of golf. I have grocery shopping, toilet cleaning and floor scrubbing to tackle. The best part about preparing for a party is that the house gets cleaned. That too, brings me happiness. Have a beautiful day and Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’s out there.

05/06/2016Omgosh, I try so hard to not have any expectations with this holiday, but I’m not very good at it! Maybe it’s because I have all boys, but I never quite get the “Queen” treatment I hope for, lol!
Gorgeous look and enjoyable read, as always! Have a great weekend and a very happy Mothers’ Day! XO

05/07/2016Thank you! I don’t believe it has anything to do with boys, Amy. I will say that having girls generally ensures nice gifts … because I think they just have more of a knack for it. But there certainly is no ‘Royal-treatment’ going on.
Happy Mother’s Day to you! xo

05/06/2016My first born graduates in 2 weeks! We’re so proud. I need some suggestions for a dress for our backyard party in 3 weeks. I’m a size 12. (Used be size 18, yay me!!) Any suggestions for something casual, and not tight??

05/07/2016Ginny, congratulations on your first horns graduation & also Happy Mother’s Day to you.
I wouldn’t go too dressy with it being a backyard party. But I do still recommend wearing a dress. Try several on to see what flatters you most. Maybe hit Old Navy. They generally have some nice non-dressy options that are flattering for your size. Try to stick with skin colored shoes and something wearable to walk on the ground. Good Luck!
