Skinny Pants & Jeans

I am not doing my usual Wednesday post, this week. Whenever one of my girl’s birthday rolls around, I have the birthday girl choose a day that her and I can spend together, go shopping and have lunch or dinner. Basically a day with mom. Friday is my second daughter, Haley’s 20th Birthday. I know, WOW! She chose today as our shopping day, so I will be spending the day with her. Since I won’t be having wine with all of you, I decided not to do a Words & Wine Down, this week. Besides, if you’re anything like me, you’re still recovering from last week’s Financial Freedom Q & A. That’s a heavy topic and takes some digesting. I thank you again for all your comments and sharing. My husband and I will definitely be covering more ‘money’ topics in the near future.

I’m going to keep this post short, but informative. Today’s outfit: a flowy cold-shoulder blouse and black skinnies inspired me to share a fashion tip with you …

The SKINNY on SKINNIES

Skinny Pants (or jeans) are a popular trend. One that I certainly love. The right pair of skinny pants has the elegance and impact of an exclamation point. Although skinny pants or jeans are most becoming on slim, petite. or coltish frames, they also tend to accentuate a round posterior for better or worse, therefore, proceed with caution. Full-figured women can still wear Skinny Jeans, so don’t listen to any fashion rules out there telling you any different. You may just have to put a little more thought into it. Let me assist you and give you the skinny: Dark colors or dark washed denim look best, but you can wear lighter colors, as well. Just make sure not to wear a tight shirt with skinny pants. Although I am thin and could possibly get away with a body hugging top, you can see I chose to wear a more flowy top. Because a flowy top can look consuming on a lean frame such as mine, I did the front-tuck to better flatter my shape. If you are more fuller-figured, you would probably want to forgo the tuck. Also, having the shirt a few inches below your hips, but not covering your butt, is a flattering look for the more full-figured. If you have trouble wearing low-rise jeans (which most Skinnies are), try looking around and find high-waisted Skinnies. No one will be able to tell, and they flatter an hourglass figure best. Most quality lines are now carrying low, mid and high-rise options. The toughest skinny pants look to pull off? A cropped pair with flats. However, throw on a pair of heels … game changer! I hope this was helpful. I find Skinnies to look well on everyone if they pair it with the right top and shoes. Enjoy your Wednesday! Plan on seeing more of this outfit later in the week as I share my second Women of Inspiration. I can’t wait for all of you to meet her! Talk about somebody that has a ‘zest’ for life!!!

    Hi Tracy!

You had a post on a pair of distressed jeans from Nordstroms. I should have saved it but I didn’t. Now I am unable to find it. Can you send me the link, my friend?

    Many thanks!
